Spain is definitely a country with a rapidly developing affiliate marketing industry.

Statista reports that revenue in the Spanish e-commerce market is projected to reach US$37.62bn in 2023, showing an annual growth rate (CAGR 2023-2027) of 10.63% and resulting in a projected market volume of US$56.36bn by 2027.

According to the latest IAB report, investment in digital media advertising in Spain exceeded €4,500 million in 2022, growing 10.0% compared to 2021 and 49.7% compared to 2020. This growth was mainly driven by the growth of new segments such as Connected TV (€39.8M investment) and influencer marketing (€63.9M).

This ever-growing group of online shoppers is significant, as they spend an average of 100$+ USD per year on online purchases. They’re attracted to e-commerce for the same reasons as the rest of us – convenient home delivery, attractive return policies and exclusive access to deals and special offers.

Two-thirds of Spain’s e-shoppers use discount offers, coupons and vouchers

Getting cashback from shops and supermarkets wasn’t really a done thing in Spain until 2002, when the Spanish Parliament approved a proposal to promote the practice, in part to solve the problem of bank access in rural areas. Consequently, consumers shifting to online shopping are already familiar with the concept and its advantages for those seeking to save money in the long run.

Groupon.es is the most visited online platform offering coupons and rebates in Spain. In May 2023, the website accounted for 13.31 percent of all desktop visits to coupon and discount websites. Letyshops.com – a business owned by Mitgo – followed close behind in second place, with just over 12 percent of traffic.

Coupon users in Spain come in a wide range of age groups, with more than two-thirds of the country’s coupon hunters being between 18 and 44 years old.

Together with FairSavings, Público launches its first coupons

Founded as a newspaper by Jaume Roures, Head of Spanish Mediapro, in 2007 with 250,000 daily printed copies, Público folded its print edition in February 2012 and continued online-only. Today, Público is the ninth-largest general interest newspaper in Spain and the fifth-largest headquartered in Madrid. The website greets 45M visitors monthly.

FairSavings, a Mitgo company specialising in vouchers and contextual advertising that has so far generated more than $25million in GMV for its advertising partners, teamed up with Público to build a coupons and deals portal, giving Público’s readership access to a huge range of offers from some of the world’s biggest brands.

Smart shoppers are increasingly looking for new options to save money on their online purchases. The main objective of our collaboration with Público is to promote a shopping experience that is as accessible, intelligent and beneficial as possible, enabling users to get the most out of their purchases.
